02/03/2021 €30m land preparatory works are ready to begin for the proposed development after legal challenges to the project reached their end in Irish courts.
Land acquisitions and preparatory works are expected to take three years before the bigger project of the motorway itself begins in 2024. If the planned timeline for construction is then adhered to, the M28 would open in 2027.
Cork County Council (CCC), propose to upgrade approximately 12.5km of the N28 National Primary Route, from the N28/N40 South Ring Road Bloomfield Interchange to the Port of Cork in Ringaskiddy, together with consequential and ancillary works.
