Demolition works have commenced
14 Mar 2023: Works to begin later in 2023. When complete, the new garda station will consist of a three-storey building, totalling 1,151 square metres, on a site of circa 0.1651 hectares.
To provide a new Garda Station in Newcastle West.
The new two-storey building is expected to be ready for use in mid 2021 and once the full design team and an architect is appointed, the project will be reviewed before it is presented to the OPW and Garda headquarters.
The site will be cleared next November and construction work is expected to take 18 months.
