Permission for the construction and operation of a concrete batching plant which will produce up to 70,000 m3 of ready mix concrete annually. The application area will cover 4.6 hectares and is located within the existing Brownswood Quarry Complex which covers an area of 95.25 hectares. The site is situated on the westernmost aspect of the permitted extraction area associated with Quarry Q124. The proposed concrete batching plant will include concrete plant (x2), 120 tonne cement silo (x8), 50,000L water tank (x2), storage bins (x10), control cabin/welfare facilities, conveyor system (x2), washout lagoons (500m2) and associated drainage infrastructure including a settlement tank (76.5m3). The proposed development will also include a processing yard, inspection shed, quarantine skips, access ramp and associated ancillary infrastructure and landscaping. Roadstone will seek to import up to 21,000 tonnes per annum of C&D waste for reprocessing and use in the concrete mix to produce a secondary product (from waste) in accordance with the National End of Waste Criteria for the Recycled Aggregates. This planning application is accompanied by a Natura Impact Statement (NIS).
