A new multi-million pound Lidl store looks set to be built in Dungannon.

The retailer has set its sights on an expansive and prominent site at Ann Street.

The proposals fall within the major category of development and, as such, a pre-application notice has been made.

The plan is for a “discount supermarket and cafe” stretching to close to 30,000 sq ft on what is land which has been derelict for the best part of 40 years.

Meanwhile, site accesses, car parking and public realm works will be included, as well as “hard and soft landscaping and associated site works”.

Full details of what is being proposed are due to be outlined at a public consultation event in mid-February.
