Permission for a battery energy storage system (BESS) facility. The development will consist of the following elements: Battery Energy Storage System facility, consisting of battery containers with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) units, transformers, inverters, underground cabling, associated control rooms, internal access routes, lighting, CCTV, lightning masts, fencing. Electrical and Operations compound consisting of: low voltage operations compound including three (3) operations containers (switchgear room, control and metering room and communications room), outdoor electrical plant, above ground and underground cabling, lighting, CCTV, lightning masts, diesel generator and diesel tank, welfare and maintenance containers and stores, parking and adjoining; High voltage electrical yard comprising outdoor electrical plant, cabling, lighting, CCTV, lightning masts and associated compound. Underground high voltage electrical cable to facilitate a connection to the existing 110/220kV Lodgewood Substation. Upgraded entrance and access road to the site from the L5130 local road, and all associated drainage and ancillary works necessary to facilitate the development. A 10 year permission is sought in respect of the development. Certain details of the proposed development are unconfirmed in the planning application and an opinion on unconfirmed details also accompanies the application. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared and is included with this planning application.
