The Garda Technical Bureau building (also known as Block B within Garda Headquarters) is located on the South-East corner of the site and is approximately 10,250m2 (9,100m2 above ground). It is a modern building with a simple arrangement of linear blocks around two square courtyards, constructed circa 1975. It is proposed to appoint a multi-disciplinary team (comprising of a Consultant Civil/Structural, Façade and MEP Engineer) to evaluate the importance of the concrete façade panels to the integrity of the building’s frame; evaluate the capabilities of the building’s structure/ superstructure to withstand any additional loadings – such as the potential possibility of adding an additional storey to the buildings upper level – and; to provide a detailed MEP desktop review of the existing condition of services at the facility.
