1 December 2016:

Irish Water is seeking Compulsory Purchase Orders for Phase 2 of the Ballinasloe Sewerage Scheme.

Irish Water says Phase one, which got underway in March 2015, is now complete.

The second stage of the 11 million euro project will get underway early next year.

It will involve the construction of around 2.5 km of sewers, and 2.5km of watermain.

The majority of the pipelines will be installed on streets and roads in and around Ballinasloe town.

Some of the sections will go through private land, which necessitates a CPO.

An Bord Pleanala will make a decision on the proposed Compulsory Purchase Order in May.
