Submissions are invited from competent Building Works Contractors, interested in pre-qualification for a later invitation to tender for the refurbishment/conservation of Victoria House and the construction of a new 3 storey annexe structure contiguous to the historic house, located on Emmet Street, in Ballina, Co. Mayo for use as the new Mary Robinson Centre. The Scope of the works will involve the complete refurbishment/conservation of Victoria House (724sqm) an 1830 Georgian terrace, which is a protected structure (in varying stages of repair) and the construction of a new 3 storey plus attic annexe structure (239 Sqm) – which will include exhibition, circulation and welfare facilities, contiguous with the historic house on the adjacent derelict site on Emmet Street. External works will include in addition to the normal site works, services and landscaping work the construction of a flood defence system. It is envisaged that the finished Centre will be a seamless union of old and new building systems show-casing best construction practice and conservation principles. This project will require a higher than average level of competence, organisation and co-operation from the Main Works Contractor and the Specialists involved.
