The development will consist of: a 10-year permission for the development of a solar farm on a site of c. 143 hectares consisting of the following: c. 684,117 sq m of solar photovoltaic panels on ground mounted steel frames 15 no. hardstanding locations for electrical skids new internal access tracks including internal watercourse crossing over the Gortanimerisk Stream underground power and communications cables and ducts, including along the L-10071 and L-10073 public roads 2 no. solar farm site entrances from the L-10071 public road (1no. new and 1no. upgrade to existing agricultural field access) and 1 no. new solar farm site entrance from the L-10073 public road a passing bay to serve the L-10071 public road within the townland of Shronebeirne access gates 3no. temporary site compounds of c. 4,050 sq m each to be used for storage during construction activity Installation of onsite transformer compound to facilitate a future over-the fence connection to the adjacent Knockanure substation located within the townland of Trien. The transformer compound will include an Independent Power Producer Building of c. 64.6 sq m, a 110 kV transformer, an 18 m high lightning monopole mast, boundary fence and associated ancillary development landscaping and biodiversity enhancement measures boundary fencing and all associated ancillary drainage development, site works and services. The solar farm will be operational for 40 years. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared in respect of the proposed development and accompanies this planning application.
