The project covers a 6.07-hectare area and involves expanding the hospital’s residential care facilities while making other upgrades to the site.

Two new residential care buildings, one two-story and one three-story, providing a total of 125 single, en-suite bedrooms.

A new single-story building for mechanical and electrical equipment, which will also house an ESB Substation.

A new secure bicycle store with 12 long-stay spaces and 21 short-stay spaces.

4,940 new trees will be planted, resulting in a net increase of 4,901 trees after the removal of 39 existing trees.

What’s Changing:
Approximately 104 sqm of existing hospital floor space, including a link building and three rooms, will be demolished.

The car parking layout will be reconfigured to create 109 spaces, including accessible spots and 22 electric vehicle charging points, with infrastructure for more.

A 33m section of the historic walled garden’s railings and gates will be relocated and repaired.

The internal road network will be modified to accommodate the new buildings.

The plan also includes a temporary construction compound, upgrades to the site’s water and sewer systems, and other necessary site works. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) has been prepared for the project.
