The proposed single storey Lidl Discount Retail Store consists of a retail sales area, storage areas, DRS room for bottle deposit returns, delivery area, baking preparation area, operations office, meeting room, freezer & chiller units, plant room, IT room, staff areas, customer & staff W.C. facilities & ancillary raised plant areas above the staff welfare area & IT/plant room. The external loading bay area is not covered.

An Bord Pleanála has granted planning for Killorglin’s first Lidl store.
Construct a new licensed discount foodstore with ancillary infrastructure and associated site development works (all totalling 2224.5 sqm gross floor space and ranging in height equivalent from 1 to 2 storeys), at a site of approximately 0.9156 hectares. The development of the proposed licensed discount foodstore (2,200 sq m gross floor space) will consist of a retail sales area with ancillary off-license use and bakery (total net retail sales area of 1,398 sqm), entrance pod, public facilities (incl. Lobby and toilets), staff facilities (incl. Welfare lobbies toilets, cloak/change rooms, staff canteen, meeting room and operational office), it room, plant room, delivery area and storage (incl. Cold storage and deposit return scheme), and external covered trolley bay area with 8 no. Bicycle parking spaces (57.39 sq m external covered floor area); rooftop photovoltaic solar panel array totalling 980 sq m; corporate signage consisting of 2 no. Building mounted corporate internally illuminated signs, 3 no. Wall mounted externally illuminated poster panel display boards, 1 no. Externally illuminated poster display board and 1 no. Free standing internally illuminated flagpole sign at entrance; 131 no. Surface car parking spaces (5 no. Disabled, 5 no. Parent and child, 2 no. Ev charging, and 119 no. Regular). Boundary treatments, retaining walls hard and soft landscaping (incl. Raising of site levels) services (incl. Site drainage accommodation works and under ground surface water attenuation storage) esb substation (24.5 sqm gross floor space), and all other ancillary infrastructure and associated site development works above and below ground floor level. Primary vehicular and pedestrian access to the proposed licensed discount foodstore will be provided via a new site entrance from the Iveragh road (n70 national secondary road); and secondary pedestrian access will be provided via a separate new dedicated pedestrian entrance from the off the Iverage road (n70 national secondary road).
