The proposal relates to two planning applications under Section 54 relating to Unit 4 (former HouseProud Furniture) and Unit 5 (former Homebase) at Great Northern Retail Park off Tamlaght Road in Omagh in order to allow them to be converted to a Sainsbury’s supermarket as shown on the submitted proposed block plan (ref. PL-A-0005).
– The first application seeks to vary Condition 9 of the original planning permission K/1999/0576/O for the retail park (Site Location Plan PL-A-0001 C), relating to the types of goods that can be sold in Unit 4 and 5 to allow the sale of convenience and all comparison goods.
– The second application seeks to vary Condition 2 of a later planning permission K/2002/1127/F (Site Location Plan PL-A-0001), which just relates to the types of goods that can be sold from Unit 5 to allow the sale of convenience and all types of comparison goods. It also seeks to vary Condition 4 of K/2002/1127/F relating to the delivery hours of Unit 5 to allow Sunday and Bank Holidays deliveries.

Sainsbury’s plan to open a new premises in Omagh at the site of the current Homebase store just off the Great Northern Road.
Sainsbury’s has reached an agreement to acquire 10 leasehold stores from HHGL Limited, trading as Homebase, for conversion into supermarkets. The transaction is expected to be finalised in early September.
