500 homes in the city are to be fast-tracked as part of the government’s Rebuilding Ireland Initiative.
The proposed development of Ardaun on the east side of the city is included in Pillar Three of the initiative, launched today.
Pillar Three concentrates on major urban development sites that are in good locations and close to infrastructure and centres of employment.
Changes to the planning system have been announced to speed up the process and reduce building costs.
The 500 new homes planned for Ardaun are subject to progress on the Local Area Plan.
