An energy research centre for development and testing of hybrid powered flywheel technology for grid applications and a 20mw facility designed to provide system support and dynamic energy storage to the electricity grid. the development will comprise; (i) a 36 metre long by 14 metre wide energy research centre building of 8.5 metre height, which will include ; reception area, offices, research workstations, control room, canteen, toilets and test workshop, (ii) mv substation building (40m2), (iii) perimeter secured switchyard containing 110 kv substation building (62m2), (iv) 10 no. externally located energy clusters each containing ground-level hybrid powered flywheel technology and associated power control equipment, (v) all ancillary development, including perimeter fencing and landscaping, car parking, access roads, all civil engineering works for the disposal of foul and surface water, lighting, emergency vehicle road entrance and main site entrance with connection to the existing estate roads of the adjacent rhode business park, which provides access to the r400.
